What is TCHNLGY?

Webster defines technology as:
"the practical application of knowledge."

TCHNLGY is a creative and logistical project resource for companies needing an innovative approach to solving problems and designing new experiences. Looking at how your project will impact the whole of your business is the key.

Using tools like AutoCAD, 3D Max, Adobe Suite, MS Project, Office Suite, online CRM and other software, TCHNLGY strives to maximize your project's value and minimize its constraints.

The TCHNLGY vision is to discover how YOU define your project's success, and then deliver.

Concept to Fruition

The TCHNLGY logo tells the project philosophy. You want your project to be successful, in the simplest way possible. Simplicity is elegant, but not easy. Concentrating on just one aspect is not always the right way to go.

Not limited to a single source for equipment, personnel, design, or execution, TCHNLGY can approach your projects from the perspective of what YOU need, not just what we can do.

Your project is a success when your perspective is understood and your goals are fulfilled. Your project is not just the outcome, but the whole of the process - from Concept to Fruition - and all the steps in between.

Scott Hill - Project Management and Design Professional

With the resources of multiple disciplines, I bring a unique skill set and perspective to projects and events.
Every project has its own personality, and everyone involved sees that project from their own point of view.
From working directly with clients, vendors, technicians and designers, I have developed the insight to bring those perspectives together to achieve spectacular results.

All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them.

Galileo Galilei
I have 20+ years of entertainment and audio/visual production, and 10+ years of B2B experience, including sales, marketing, manufacturer representation, as well as customer service.

Operationally I have managed large projects, events and crews. I have created scheduling and product tracking systems, budgets, proposals, sales quoting systems, and marketing strategies.

Project Management

Throughout my career, I have had many opportunities to enjoy that moment when a client sees that I and my team "get it", whatever "it" might be. When a project then delivers on and exceeds those expectations, everyone involved can celebrate, knowing the results are exactly as they should be.

Creative Design

The best designs fulfill their intended purpose with simplicity, elegance and style.
I have been instrumental in the creative development and promotion of the companies and brands I have worked with, from product design and development, to media production and event management.
I have worked with and led teams to achieve fantastic goals, created and maintained budgets, negotiated vendor contracts, and monitored project metrics.

Client Services

I have had the distinct and fortunate opportunity to serve clients, customers and guests from across a wide spectrum of industries and structural levels, and I have learned a great deal from that experience. I have been able to deal with the large corporate decision making process, as well as the individual needs of a single customer.

Project Management

TCHNLGY applies the Project Management Process Groups as defined by
'The Project Management Body of Knowledge' (PMBOK Guide)
INITIATION
Regardless of the type of project, there has to be a start to it. Getting to that start, however, can be a process in and of itself. Many times, the lack of a clear, succinct definition of the goal can prevent a project's success - If time, budget and resources have no solid ground to be built from, the project is doomed to failure - or mediocrity at best.

"The beginning is the most important part of the work."

Plato
I start by asking questions, seeking to understand what the purpose of the project is, and what the stakeholders truly desire the final outcome to be. Often, just asking the right people the right questions can make the difference between mediocrity and great success.
PLANNING
Developing a comprehensive plan, complete with WBS, resources, schedules, milestones, budgets and contingencies, is key to getting the project from initiation to completion. Knowing that you want to go from New York to Los Angeles is great, but if you don't fuel up the car, book the plane ticket, or properly exercise your thumb muscles, you won't get very far.

"Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe."

Abraham Lincoln
Through my experience with a wide variety of projects in multiple industries, I am able to help define the overall project scope and get things moving, placing the pieces in the right spots, setting the plan in motion.
EXECUTION
You've got the project started, everything is in place. Execution is the light and heat produced during the lifespan of the project. Resource development, system design, communication and management are important to this process, and it is here where the rubber meets the road.

"Plans are only good intentions unless they immediately degenerate into hard work."

Peter Drucker
Once set into motion, I bring a body of knowledge to my projects that includes design, communication and execution skills that span multiple disciplines, and include decades of experience. I can speak to specific project deliverables, I understand and can create Project Plans and Work Breakdown Structure, and can identify, assess, and prioritize risks.
MONITORING
Despite our best efforts, plans change, budgets shrink (or, occasionally, expand) and project scope has the tendency to creep into areas never anticipated. It is here that monitoring is vital - keeping the end goal in mind while rolling with the changes and obstacles.

"However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results."

Sir Winston Churchill
I understand change, and I understand that sometimes an adjustment of the sails is needed to keep a project on track. Being open and able to make changes on the fly, while still remaining true to the project are instrumental to maintaining project momentum.
CLOSING
Just as project initiation is important, where a project ends should be clearly defined as well. Often, when a set of objectives have been met, the closing of the project becomes the task least attended to.

"Begin at the beginning,' the King said gravely, 'and go on till you come to the end; then stop."

Lewis Carroll
Once a project reaches final delivery, I know that documentation, final reviews, releasing resources, and team recognition are parts of the project that help to define success, and make it easier to start the next projects.
